As a quick reinforcement you should read pages 13-19 of the paper on Hardware and Software of Multimedia Development developed by Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia [CEMCA].

Most of you may already be familiar with many of the tools such as PowerPoint, Photoshop, etc. described in this reading as they have been around for well over a decade. These software programmes still have a value to them and in fact they may be the most commonly used products in most schools and universities in our country.  Have you used any such software in your teaching or in other contexts? As new technologies emerge, the number of software programmes for visualisation increase both in numbers and sophistication. In addition many of them are available as web tools and often at no cost. These have become more elaborate and powerful, permitting creators to embed sound, videos and animation.

A list of some new tools and a review of them can be found at 'Ten tried and tested internet tools for teachers' (http://www.boxoftricks.net/2009/04/ten-tried-and-tested-internet-tools-for-teachers/)

I suggest you visit this site and complete the table below. I have done one for you as an example. Do you know of any other that you can share with your coursemates?
