Tan Sri Emeritus Professor Dr. Gajaraj Dhanarajan
Tan Sri Dato Emeritus Prof. Gajaraj Dhanarajan is the Hon. Director of the Institute of Research and Innovation [IRI] and currently the Chairman, Board of Governors of Wawasan Open University. He has over 30 years of experience in Open and Distance Learning [ODL] and his current interests include studying and promoting the use of Open Educational Resources [OER] in Asia.
Professor Dr Mohandas B. Menon
Professor Mohan Menon has a professional career comprising teaching, training, research and administrative experience in both face-to-face and distance education contexts. Subsequent to his appointment in M.S. University of Baroda, India, Prof. Menon joined the Indira Gandhi National Open University as its first Planning Officer and founded IGNOU's Planning and Development Division in 1987. In 1996, he was as the Chairman and CEO of the National Open School for three years. The Commonwealth of Learning, Vancouver appointed Prof. Menon as Education Specialist in 2001 and later as Team Leader of Education. He was responsible for all COL's initiatives in teacher education by ODL during 2001 to 2008. He was conferred the Honorary Doctor of Letters by the Open University of Sri Lanka in November 2008 for his work in Education in the Commonwealth for over 30 years. He worked extensively at national and institutional levels in several countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, South and South-East Asia and Caribbean in building capacity in development, delivery and quality assurance in teacher education programmes by ODL. Prof Mohan Menon is currently the Assistant Vice-Chancellor for Academic Support in Wawasan Open University, Malaysia.
Professor Dr B. Phalachandra
Before joining the Educational Technology and Publishing Unit, Wawasan Open University, Prof Phalachandra served as Professor and Head, Department of Education, Dean of Instruction and Director of International Diploma in Guidance and Counselling (IDGC) in the Regional Institute of National Council of Educational Research and Training at Mysore, India. He served in the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi for 5 years. The major thrust of activities during 30 years of his association with NCERT and IGNOU included Curriculum Development, Teaching, Research and capacity building of personnel of different States of the country in developing instructional materials (print and non print), delivery of materials/instruction to the target groups through face to face and through distance mode (Radio, Television and Video Conference) and training in actual conduct of video conference. Also designed, developed both macro and micro programmes/projects, coordinated and monitored its implementation. In addition, Prof Phalachandra also provided consultancy to major National and International agencies such as Indian Space Research Organization, Intel, USAID, HP Lab, British Council of India, National Institute of Open Schooling, Center for Environmental Education, Educational Development Center (USA), Academy of Educational Development (USA), Commonwealth of Learning (Canada), and World Bank. He was also awarded Fulbright Scholarship (Post Doctoral Research) for Teacher Education - Distance Mode and affiliated to Ohio State University, USA.
Mr Ishan Sudeera Abeywardena
Mr Ishan is currently a senior lecturer at the School of Science and Technology, Wawasan Open University. Ishan obtained his first MSc in Wireless Enterprise Business Systems and second MSc in Engineering Management from Brunel University, UK. He also studied Applied Simulation in Robotics at Dortmund University, Germany and holds a BSc in Computer Science from Bangalore University, India. Prior to his appointment in Wawasan Open University, Ishan has acquired vast experiences mostly from UK and Sri Lanka in software development, web development, e-commerce, project management, operations and R&D. Ishan has presented in numerous national and international conferences, published articles in reputable journals, and is a professional member of the British Computer Society (BCS), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and IEEE.
